The American company SarcMark earned several thousand dollars on a smiley face that expresses sarcasm, wrote The Daily Telegraph. The company has developed an appropriate sign, patented it and began to sell at $ 2 through its website in mid-January 2010. SarcMark founder Doug Sak declined to say exactly how many firm earned, said only that revenue for the first week of sales in the thousands of dollars. He also said that several companies developing software and social networks have already expressed their desire to use these icons in their applications. Sack also noted that he and partners were preparing for the opening SarcMark for eight years. The main difficulty, he said, was to adopt their graphic symbol to the majority of text formats and fonts. Businessmen do not intend to restrict the promotion of his badge as a smiley face. In particular, they hope to make it a commonly used symbol of sarcasm in the subtitles for the deaf.
