Microsoft has announced the settlement of patent dispute with the company VirnetX Holdings. Under the terms of the agreement Microsoft will pay VirnetX $ 200 million that the latter withdrew its charges. Recall that VirnetX accused Microsoft of violating two patents describing the technology of communication via the Internet.

Both companies announced the fact of reaching an agreement two months later after a federal court in Texas decided to pay Microsoft 105,75 million dollars for the violations. The actual payment amount was almost twice as large as Microsoft and VirnetX also agreed on further use of proprietary technology by Microsoft.

Notice that the company VirnetX develops communications software and technology for communication through a global network. The lawsuit was filed against the company back in 2007. In it the company accused Microsoft's illegal use of patents describing the work of secure algorithms technology for virtual private networks (VPN).
